What is prayer and what is the purpose of prayer? This question has been sitting on the home-front steps of every person who acknowledge that there is a supernatural Creator, someone Greater and powerful who created the earth and everything in it. We know there is only One and True Living God and Creator who controls life and death, the past, present and future of all creation. God’s invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even God’s eternal power and Godhead (The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit) (Romans 1:20).
Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior removes the mystery surrounding the subject of prayer or simply put “talking to our Heavenly Father”. Prayer is an invitation to enter into fellowship intimately by expression of communicating with God whom we have a relationship with through Jesus Christ. Prayers profess our dependence on the Giver of life for everything (Matthew 6:9-15). Prayer also meets the needs of our hearts (Philippians 4:19). We can have confidence that God hears the prayers of His children and heirs of His kingdom (1 John 5:14-15). In this covenant relationship, God promises to answer when we pray because fulfilled prayers bring Glory to Him. He is not silent to those who draw near (Psalm 4:3b; Psalm 50:15; Isaiah 65:24; and James 4:8a).
Shut The Door Ministries (STDM) places prayer a top priority in its outreach ministry of Deliverance and Inner Healing. Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of STDM and its foundation. We depend on prayer and the sufficiency of Christ and the working of The Holy Spirit to minister and bring true freedom with the purpose of being transformed to serve God and live a victorious life. For this reason, STDM does not cease to pray for each person that is sent through our doors by the love of Christ. So let us draw near to God, increase in our knowledge of God, be strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power (Colossians 1:9-11).
