If we are going to do anything for/in God we’ve got to believe that God is who He says He is and that He can/will do exactly what He says He will do. In God there is no lack, failure, or fear. He has given us Jesus Christ and filled us with His precious Holy Spirit, therefore providing all the momentum we need in our lives to move out of bondage into freedom. Momentum is the strength or force that something has when it is moving; it’s the strength or force that allows something to continue or grow stronger (MWD – online). Jesus is that momentum!
The Canaanite woman (Matthew 15:21-28), as she sought Jesus, moved in momentum as she purposed to secure deliverance for her daughter. Although she knew that “by right” she didn’t qualify for the blessing, her faith propelled her forward to the only momentum (strength or force) she had witnessed to receive deliverance for her daughter and herself. By positioning herself in the presence of Jesus, she was exhibiting her faith in His ability to initiate positive movement in her daughter’s life, at whatever cost.
Being in Christ Jesus, walking in the power of the Holy Spirit, gives us the momentum we need to move forward into healing, wholeness, and freedom. If we want to be able to move forward we have to put ourselves in a position that tells God that we want to move forward and in that spirit of humility, we are willing to accept His help. Our humility lets God know that we understand that without Him we can’t be free and we need for Him to do what only He can do, as we walk in faith.
This has been a season of transition (movement) in our own lives and we know that this current movement is a part of deliverance for our personal situations. When God blesses us with the momentum and gives us the courage that we need to move with Him, we agreed with His direction, put His plan in motion by letting go of all fear, unnecessary discussion, and hesitation, as we packed up our things and moved on.
Even in times of movement, doubt and fear may try to resurge, but we hold onto the word that we heard God say regarding moving forward in that specific situation. We remember His promises in Isaiah 43:2, that He (I AM) would be there to protect us from any waters and fire that may try to overtake us. So we continue the move in the momentum of the Lord, throwing off anything that would serve as a device to hinder our progress. We allow the momentum in Christ Jesus to lift us up and empower us to believe God and to demonstrate our faith in Him as we move, speaking His Word into our lives, as we move in new ways.
So this month, we encourage you in whatever way God is prompting you to move that you will hear Holy Spirit and you will take that leap of faith into your freedom with Him. Now that is a very important key – that when you begin to move in freedom, you move with Him, not alone. It is by the Spirit of the Lord that we do these things and not by our own might and power (Zachariah 4:6). As we go forward we need to remember that not only are we not going forward in our strength, but we are going because God is directing us to go. As we move we clothe ourselves in the whole armor of God ( Ephesians 6:10 – 18) because it takes spiritual weapons to fight spiritual battles and it takes the Spirit of the Lord to overcome any doubt or fear or reservations that we may have. It takes His might and His power even in the face of fear or uncertainty to continue to move forward and to hold on and to believe what He said, and He is Who is, and will do what He promised.
Prayer: Father, in the Name of Jesus, we thank You for the momentum you have provided for our lives through Christ Jesus. Thank You for the courage to move forward and helping us to walk in our identity which is in Christ Jesus. Thank You that all fear, doubt, and distraction is bound and cutoff in the Name of Jesus. Thank You for the push and pull to come forward and that we will be willing with every part of our being to cooperate and partner with You to meet our God-given destiny. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
