I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love forever and ever.

Psalm 52:8

The month of February is not unique in itself, but it does have a couple of public and popular events occurring.  The first event is that this year is known as Leap Year, where February will consist of 29 calendar days.  The additional day is added to synchronize our Gregorian calendar year with the solar year or the time it takes the earth to complete its orbit about the sun. The second event is Valentine’s Day, where in almost all countries this day is celebrated by those who desire to show their heart’s love for that special someone. Many people will send cards, flowers and candy. Some will lavish their special loved ones with romantic dinners and gifts. The actual day was named after Saint Valentine, a 1st century Christian Martyr who went against the Emperor’s ban against marriages for soldiers, and performed weddings for Christian soldiers who wanted to live holy lives.

I’ve given you a bit of history on both events; however I believe these events point directly to Almighty God in His love, creation and design of and for the earth. Our Holy Father wants us to enjoy life on earth and He knew what He was doing in the creation with an eternal purpose in His Son Jesus Christ.  We know that all days and time was created by God perfectly from the beginning, He is the Beginning and the End. He is our beginning and our end. His Spirit searches the deep things of God in us and intercedes on our behalf.  Therefore, you and I know that all things in God work together for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to His purpose.  Some may ask, how can we know this for sure; the answer can be found in the Holy Word of God (Romans 8:28).  Actually, I encourage you to take a “God moment” and meditate on the entire 8th chapter of the book of Romans. The primary point I’m making is that we were created to “flourish” in God through Christ our Redeemer.
The Psalmist made a declaration that he was like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God. This means that we should be growing intimately in relationship with our Heavenly Father, and with other Christians in His House. Our growth should be spiritually alive and fresh like the green leaves on an olive tree or sweet grapes from the vineyard.  The Lord God has given us all that we need to flourish if we place ourselves under His loving care as the Master Gardner. We can only benefit from God’s unfailing love that is forever and ever. Let this sink into your hearts and mind, His love is unfailing and it’s forever. So today, let’s declare together in our words and prayers that we will flourish with freshness in compassion, love, faith, joy and peace; and allow The Holy Spirit to manifest God’s unfailing love in and through us.

Prayer/Reflection:  My Lord, My Lord! I admit that I have been stagnated spiritually, but as of this moment I declare that I will flourish in You.  I accept Your unfailing love for me and step into the place of freshness that has already been positioned in Christ for me as my Savior. Therefore, I clothe myself in Your eternal love. This prayer I present in the Name of Jesus Christ.
